What is the best course for my 14 year old daughter

The best course for your daughter is the Skills in Babysitting course.   It is suitable for both boys and girls in the age group 13 to 16.  If your daughters school does not offer the Practical course and one cannot be arranged for a group of students in your location, the only option is to enroll for the On-Line course.
The On-Line Course content is the same as the Practical course but the on line student will get more individual coaching on a one to one basis.

What is the best age for a child to start a Babysitting Course?

The Skills in Babysitting course is designed for both boys and girls in the age group 13 to 16 years

How can my son or daughter attend a Skills in Babysitting Course?

Most schools do not offer these studies as a part of the curriculum and therefore this course becomes an external school activity.  Courses usually start at 3:30 until 5:30 and take four weeks to complete.    There is usually a minimum number of students required to make a course viable.
Parents can ask the school to contact us to arrange for us to attend an assembly or to send details to parents.

Courses can be arranged as a weekend activity and parents who are interested in forming a group should Contact us for advice about how to arrange a course.

Some areas offer our Skills in Babysitting course as a vocational activity which will be advertised.  If it is not advertised Parents should contact the organizers to include it

Can my child fail a course?

It is unusual for a student to fail the on line course.  The pass marks are set at a demanding but achievable level.  The course work is designed in such a way that their understanding of each module has to be assessed   at the minimum standard before they can move on to the next subject. Tutorial support and additional guidance is provided if work has to be returned for re submission.

A student who attends a practical course will not achieve a pass mark if they fail to attend all classes or do not submit their work for assessment.

What subjects are included?

The course includes the following subjects:- An Introduction to babysitting, Play skills, CV writing, Safety, First Aid and Care of a baby.

On-Line Courses

What does the On-Line course give me?

The most important attribute is Confidence. With your newly acquired knowledge you will have the confidence to project your Babysitting Skills and build up a number of contacts with parents seeking a babysitter.

The next is a Life Skill. From the early days of starting to look after children either siblings or from other families you should gain experience in child care.

Do I get a Certificate on the On-Line Course?

Yes you do – once you have passed the course. We issue a completion Certificate to all students who pass every unit of the course.  Your Certificate will become a part of your Work portfolio if you want to show parents what you have learned.

 

How can my Qualification turn into pocket money

There are two ways:-

  • You learn the basics of Babysitting and how to promote your own Baby sitting service.  You can charge whatever you think that the market rate might be. You might consider a variable rate for normal and special days.
  • Once you have been successful and passed the On-Line course you could get a cash reward for introducing any of your friends who sign up for the On-Line Course

 

How much does the On-Line Course cost.

The On-Line course costs £50.00 for an individual student.
It is possible for a group of students who wish to register at the same time to obtain a discount.

Can a student fail an On-Line Course?

Providing that a student works diligently and to the correct timetable, It is unusual  to fail the On-Line course.  The pass marks are set at a demanding but achievable level.

The course  is designed in a structured way so that the student understanding of each module has to be tested and assessed in order to reach  the minimum standard before they can move on to the next subject.       Tutorial support and additional guidance is provided if work has to be returned for re submission.

Is the On-Line Course the same as the Practical Course?

The course content is the same but it is delivered to the student using various types of media.
The On-Line Course involves studies that can be undertaken at a convenient time.       It is structured and there is a timetable which should be kept to.           It provides for individual one to one tuition and students are able to upload their work directly to the tutor when they have finished their assignments.

Students on the Practical Course have to attend classes for two hours, usually after school and complete their assignments in their own time.   The folder containing their work is then sent via the school for assessment and marking.  There is a facility for sending work by email

How long does it take to complete the On-Line Course?

The first step is to Register.  Registration will provide all of the information for you  to start the course.. Once the course is ready for you, it can be started (activated) at any time that is convenient to you.

When the course has been activated, it  should not take longer than four weeks to complete.

How can I pay for my On-Line Course?

You can use the Registration form on the On-Line Courses page on the website.  This will take you to our PayPal payment page where you have the option to use either PayPal payments or use your credit or debit card.

You can transfer money or make an on line payment directly into our bank account at Lloyds Bank  Sort code 30 92 94 for account number 02321830. ~Please remember to quote your name so that we can identify you~

Practical Courses

How much does the practical course cost?

The cost of the Practical course is currently from £50.00 depending on tutor availability and location.   Parents are handed a consent form when applying for the course and this will give details of how to pay for the course.

How long does the Practical course take?

The Practical course involves eight hours of tuition which usually takes place in two hour sessions over four weeks.   It can be changed to two four sessions on consecutive Saturdays or to suit the tutor group.

Assignments have to be completed, sent by email and assessed before a pass mark can be given.  This can take take up to two weeks.

What is the minimum number of students for a Course?

A Practical Course cannot become viable unless there are at least 10 students. The maximum number is usually 25.
